Join Women in Architecture (WIA) and AIA Charlotte at the Powerhouse/Charlotte City Lab (formerly The Charlotte Trolley Museum) on September 20 as we explore greater issues across multiple construction disciplines in our first annual career development breakfast for Women in Construction. Co-hosted by USGBC, CSI, SMPS, and IIDA, this year's topic will dive into negotiation tactics for career advancement, management strategies, business development, and contract negotiation.

The morning will commence at 7:30 with networking, breakfast bites, coffee, and mimosas. The one-hour panel discussion will begin promptly at 8:00 am.

$10 Member Rate (AIA, SMPS,USGBC, CSI, and IIDA)
$25 Non-Member Rate

Registration fee includes breakfast and mimosa bar. Use the Comments section of registration to indicate any dietary restrictions.

   Attendees should sign in at the event to earn 1 LU of AIA CE credit.

Inspiring design excellence and cultivating strong relationships are among Ruth’s top priorities as a Studio Principal in our Workplace Practice. She and her team of highly talented architects and interior designers are passionate about designing creating innovative interior environments that enhance the lives of the people who occupy them and exceed client expectations.

Ruth believes that more is learned by listening then by speaking, and couples that knowledge with insights gained through research and exploration to further elevate the design solutions created for clients like Duke Energy, Reynolds American Inc., Charlotte Center City Partners, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, BB&T, Delhaize America and Mecklenburg County.

Ruth serves the next generation of designers through her active involvement with the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) as a mentor, lecturer and educator. Throughout her 30 year career she has spoken at a variety of industry conferences and events, including those sponsored by NeoCon, NeoCon East, IFMA, CREW, IIDA and AIA. Ruth received her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Appalachian State University.


Barbara Price, FAIA

McMillan Pazdan Smith

Barbara has practiced architecture for more than 40 years and currently serves as Sr. Architect with McMillan Pazdan Smith Architects in Charlotte, NC. During her career she has served in executive leadership roles for firms such as CRSS, HOK, LS3P, ODELL, JACOBS and AECOM. Of note, she was the Executive Vice President with global responsibilities for the AECOM Architecture/ Engineering/ PMCM Business Line, which was the largest Architecture Practice in the world at the time.

Barbara has been an active AIA member, including President of SC AIA in 2000, and has led numerous national committees most recently as Chair of the AIA Integrated Project Delivery Strategy Group and AIA/AGC Joint Committee. She also served as Chair for the 2002 AIA National Convention in Charlotte with over 16,000 attendees. She is currently a member of the AIA Federal Task Force.

Tracy Dodson
Senior Vice President
Lincoln Harris

Tracy Dodson has more than 18 years’ experience in diverse aspects of real estate within Charlotte, NC. As a Vice President at Lincoln Harris, Tracy serves as a part of the Development Team as well as the Brokerage Services team. Her primary focus is to lead large mixed-use projects through entitlements, preliminary engineering, public-private funding and into construction. Most recent projects include the 188 acre Rea Farms in south Charlotte, and Southbridge, the former Knights Stadium site in Fort Mill, South Carolina. In addition, Tracy works on long range office leasing and business recruitment of companies considering the Charlotte market. She maintains strong relationships with Charlotte and North Carolina’s economic developers, brokers, and City officials to understand a broad range of office relocation/growth opportunities.

Anne Goodson
Senior Project Manager

Anne Goodson stands out among her peers as a true leader, both in the construction industry and in the community. She embodies a strong work ethic, exudes passion and tenacity, and demonstrates an innate skill for helping others grow and excel.

Anne has dedicated her career to providing management and leadership in the construction of complex projects. This experience is valued at over $200 million in projects in varied sectors ranging from education to historic restorations to high-end hospitality.

Anne is extremely passionate about improving lives and communities, and has dedicated herself to several causes that bring about positive change. These include sustainability efforts, promotion of youth education and mentorship, and efforts to ensure minority inclusion in the industry. Recent examples include IDEA Academy of South Mecklenburg High School—Project Greenhouse, USGBC Green Apple A Day Service Event , and Minority Contractor Business Development.

Anne’s background includes a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is also a LEED Accredited Professional and currently serves as the Committee leader for the USGBC Charlotte Region Green Schools.

Rhiannon Jacobsen
VP Strategic Relationships

Rhiannon Jacobsen is the Vice President of Strategic Relationships at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). In this role, Rhiannon focuses on a variety of clients and initiatives related to the green building industry and oversees market transformation and development activities throughout the South Atlantic and South Central regions of the United States. Rhiannon specializes in engaging corporations and foundations and further connecting them to the U.S. Green Building Council’s vast portfolio of green building initiatives and activities, including LEED, the most widely recognized and used green building program across the globe.

At USGBC, Rhiannon’s areas of professional oversight include the manufacturing, technology, commercial contracting, retail and hospitality sectors, as well as all traditional philanthropic and corporate sponsorship activities of USGBC. She also oversees various market based engagement activities including the LEED User Groups.
